This time of year is tough as there are many people who are sick through the winter months with health problems.

A shortage of blood is something that could truly be fatal for someone who is sick and needs immediate attention.

According to the American Red Cross, roughly 40,000 people every day need blood.

This blood has to be used for a surgery, a transfusion, or something of that nature.

The local Red Cross stations all throughout the U.S. are asking the public to try and keep the blood donations coming through the new year so that they do not fall too far behind.

The best thing you can do is to check with your local Red Cross to see where donations are being taken so that we all can help out.
