The health care system in the U.S. continues to fall apart as there are over 47 million Americans who do not have health insurance.  This is due to many reasons, but the biggest is that many simply cannot afford health insurance.

Each and every year health insurance premiums continue to rise, meaning more and more people will go without it because they do not have the pockets to pay for it.

President-elect Barack Obama will clearly face some of his biggest challenges of his first term trying to fix health care.

The big thing to remember though is that this is not a fix that is going to come within the first few months of him taking office.

Instead, it is going to be a long-term process to fix health care, one which may actually go into his second term as president if he gets there.

President-elect Obama has heard the callf rom people all across the U.S. and is working with Tom Daschle, his Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services to come up with a plan to make health care more affordable.

In order to fix it though for good, we will all have to look long-term.
