Washington (dbTechno) – It was confirmed this week that a 19-year old woman died from the H5N1 bird flu virus in Beijing, China. This latest death has sparked widespread fear not only across China, but across countries all around the world.
The news spread like wild fire this week as it was confirmed by the Chinese Ministry of Health that the 19-year old women had died from the virus.
Usually, the H5N1 bird flu virus is not one that can infect humans easily, as they have to contract it from being in direct contact with infected poultry.
That may have been the case here though as she was reportedly working on clearning and purchasing poultry in markets.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has come out and stated that the woman was infected after working in a poultry market.
The fear now is that this is not the end and that more poultry may be infected with the H5N1 bird flu virus, putting many more people at risk.
The chance is also there that it could still mutate into a form that can easily be transmitted from one human to another.
This was the first human case of the H5N1 bird flu virus since February of 2008.
