King Nut Recalls Peanut Butter Due To Salmonella Bacteria
January 12, 2009
Washington (dbTechno) - King Nut has announced a voluntary recall of two brands of peanut butter after they were linked to the latest salmonella outbreak that is sweeping across the U.S.
King Nut is an Ohio-based food distributor which supplies peanut butter and other products to food service companies.
Their peanut butter is not sold in grocery stores, but is instead used in hospitals, schools, restaurants, etc.
King Nut has released a statement askingc ustomers to remove all of the peanut butter from the distributor.
The two brands impacted here include King Nut peanut butter as well as Parnell’s Pride peanut butter.
The company is asking all consumers to remove them from the market as soon as possible.
The lot codes included in the recall start out with the number eight.
This company does not directly manufacture the peanut butter, but instead orders it from Peanut Corporation of America. They have also reportedly canceled several orders that were already in place.
This comes after health officials in Minnesota confirmed that peanut butter from the King Nut brand tested positive for salmonella bacteria.
This comes as the latest salmonella outbreak continues to sweep the U.S.
388 people have fallen ill across 42 states, with nearly 70 being hospitalized according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
