   “THURSDAY, April 23 (HealthDay News) — Scientists have ‘converted adult cells’ into embryonic-like stem cells by using chemical programming instead of genetic manipulation.” AMAZING !!! Adult Cells become “embryonic like” via a chemical bath. SO it appears the idea of using fetus’s was the false trial after all? Fetus stem cells actually cause cancerous growth in subjects ie. patients, where as this discovery was made along other path, the patients own cells being modified for therapeutic use. Michael J. Fox, injecting himself into the political process was grand standing and ALL FOR NAUGHT.

   This was a very poorly written article. What this article describes is a way to make induced pluripotent stem cells NOT embryonic stem cells. The article talks about “this protein solution”. The solution was never discussed or explained prior to that statement so the use of the term “this” was used incorrectly. I can tell this article was written by neither a scientist nor a respected journalist.

   If you had a proven method of curing disease it will take years to approve, Give me a break I know of a study in Canada that simply injected stem cells into the Pancreas of brittle diabetics and I believe all of the 23 subjects started producing insulin within days. This was over 10 years ago. Brilliant research total assenine administration of the research just like everything else in America

If this is true, I am sure that you have invested every cent you can get your hands on in a start-up company to exploit this. Please let me (and maybe others) know where to send the check, so we can make the millions that will endue.

    This article was poorly written. The work this article is reporting on is a new way make induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells, NOT embryonic stem cells. Also, the article mentions “this protein solution” while never having introducing what the protein “solution” is. The use of the word “this” is incorrect. It’s unfortunate that there are people writing about science who do not clearly portray the facts. It is obvious that whoever wrote this article is neither a scientist nor a professional writer.

    The deabte over the destruction of the embryo ended a year ago. A stem company by the name of Advanced Cell technology (actc) was able to remove a single cell from the embryo without destroying it. This procedure is the same as the IV procedure to check for gene abnormalities.

    So the debate is over!!!!! Check it out. ACTC

    I see it as a chance for black market operations to boom,
    Organs will flow like water,child porn kings will get living bodies that are considered not human and can do what they want,schools will be able to dissect a living body again there is no human reference just a creation,masochists will be able to get something to beat on and there will be no charges.
    SCIENTISTS and DOCTORS will clean up on the deal.
    Political society will get kickbacks and the world will be a happy place right?
    There will be hunts where you can kill one for they are things and have no value but to serve what ever warped thing minds can conceive.
    If allowed to create these beings then there will be that chance.

    Information about using mouse skin to make stem cells has been available since early March, 2009. (See Nature, first week of March.) It has NOTHING to do with embryos and EVERYTHING to do with creating stem cells from one’s own tissue. Not only would that solve the ethical issues, it would virtually eliminate immune system rejection problems.

    Ok, so the article is lousy. Google Dr. Andras Nagy Toronto stem cells..

    I don’t see the ethical problem. The five day old embryos that are used to develop stem cell lines are created in a lab by a scientist from donor eggs and donor sperm, no moms and dads involved. the embryo does have the potential to become a fetus if implanted into a uterus. but, many of the embryos that have been used for research up til this point were “spare” embryos, obtained from IVF clinics, that would eventually be destroyed, because there were no uteruses wanting them… so, why destroy embryos for no reason. i mean, development of stem cell lines that could potentially cure anything from diabetes, spinal cord injury, blindness, to cancer, seems like a better fate for the embryo, than simply destruction, with no reason. think about all the people it could help..

    I am so tired of listening to the whining of all the self professed religious hippocrits, concerning the Stem Cell issue. They whine about it but yet when science develops majors breakthroughs in this field, they will be the first in line to seek the treatment and have an attitude toward the less fortunate that may need it.
