Mississippi Continues to be Fattest State in America
July 2, 2009

Boston (DbTechNo) - Results of a new survey find that obesity rates are on the up across America with the state of Mississippi continuing to lead the way.
The survey was put together by the Trust for America’s Health and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and has some scarey findings.
The survey found that in 31 US states, 1 in 4 Americans are either overweight or obese.
In 23 states, the rate of obesity rose this past year, and so did the percentage of obese people over the age of 65.
“The obesity epidemic clearly goes beyond being an individual problem,” said Jeff Levi, director of the Trust, a nonprofit public health group.
When it comes to children living in America, the survey found that in 30 states, more than 30% of children are now obese.
The report goes onto state that the surge in obesity in America will put a huge strain on the country’s health care system, due to people becoming at high risk of health problems because of their weight.
Some health problems prevalent for obese people include; high blood pressure, diabetes, stroke, heart disease and many more.
