Democrats Introduce New Health Care Bill

July 3, 2009

A new bill introduced yesterday by Democrats would result in Americans paying a fine if they refuse to purchase health insurance
Boston (DbTechNo) - A new bill introduced yesterday by Democrats would result in Americans paying a fine if they refuse to purchase health insurance.

These fines could be as steep as $1000, and would be levied against Americans who although given the option of affordable health insurance plans refuse to buy them.

The fines would be known as “shared responsibility payments,” and would offset the basic cost for medical care coverage.

The fines are to urge Americans to sign up for health insurance while they are healthy and not to wait until they are sick.

According to the backers of this bill, the fines could result in more than 36 million dollars being raised each year for the government.

The proposed bill would see government subsidies being given to low-income families, and make it manditory for everybody else to have health care coverage.

Barack Obama is in favor of the bill, stating that it is in line with many principals that he shares.
