Boston (DbTechNo) – Results of a survey from the nonprofit Trust for America’s Health and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation show that for the 5th year in a row the state of Mississippi is the fattest in America.

Over 32% of adults living in Mississippi are obese, meaning that they are living with a body mass index BMI exceeding 30.

When it comes to children living in the state, as many as 44% of them are considered either overweight or obese.

As far as the country goes, obesity rates rose in 23 states, and not one state saw a reduction in their rate of obesity.

Furthermore, the rate of obese babyboomers is also on the rise, this demographic being those Americans over the age of 50.

The lowest rate of obesity was found to be in the state of Colorado.

“The obesity epidemic clearly goes beyond being an individual problem,” said Jeff Levi, executive director of the Trust, a nonprofit public health group.
