Hair pulling or trichotillomania, is a type of obsessive-compulsive disorder, that effects as many as 5 in every 200 people.
People with the condition have the unbarable urge to pull hair on various parts of their bodies, even to the point of baldness.
Currently people diagnosed with the condition are treated with various forms of antidepressants, which do little to curb the disorder.
The study can be found in the Archives of General Psychiatry.
