FDA Approves Glaxo Drug to Treat Chronic Leukemia

Boston (DbTechNo) - The Food and Drug Administration have given approval to a drug called Arzerra, for the treatment of a type of chronic leukemia.
The approval was fast tracked, meaning that it was given priority review status based on the fact that patients with the type of leukemia the drug is approved for have limited treatment options.
Arzerra is made by GlaxoSmithKline, and is approved to treat a type of leukemia known as chronic lymphocytic leukemia, which is a rare blood and bone marrow cancer.
Despite being approved, GlaxoSmithKline will still need to conduct clinical trials on the drug to further insure it works and is safe.
