Bunny Rabbits Thrive with New Penile Erectile Tissue

Results of a new study will be very interesting to men, as US scientists have been able to grow penile erectile tissue using stem cells and bunny rabbits
Boston (DbTechNo) - Results of a new study will be very interesting to men, as US scientists have been able to grow penile erectile tissue using stem cells and bunny rabbits.

This unique study was carried out by scientists working at the Institute for Regenerative Medicine at Wake Forest University in North Carolina.

They performed their experiment on rabbits, and after implanting the grown tissue, bunnies were able to “hop to it” without any difficulty getting it up.

The scientists took healthy cells from the penises of the rabbits, worked with them in the lab to develop more, and then reinjected them back into the body.

Is this technique possible in humans? The researchers are cautiously optimistic.

“Obviously there are still unknowns whenever you transfer studies from animals to humans, so we are cautiously optimistic about the potential of this technology,” said Dr. Anthony Atala, the institute’s director.

The study can be found in the early online edition of the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
