FDA Approves Zyprexa Antipsychotic for Use in Teenagers

Boston (DbTechNo) - The FDA (Food and Drug Administration) have just approved an antipsychotic drug made by Eli Lilly for use in Teenagers.
Zyprexa is the name of the blockbuster drug which even before this approval was the best selling drug for the company.
The drug has just been approved to treat teens diagnosed with schizophrenia and manic depression, despite the possible severe weight gain side effect.
The drug has been approved in a lesser dose for teens than it is currently approved for in adults, and the label recommends that the drug be just part of a “total treatment program for teens with schizophrenia and bipolar I disorder.”
Last year, sales of Zyprexa topped 4.7 billion dollars, a number that will skyrocket now that the drug has gained further approval.
Upon news of the FDA approval shares of Eli Lilly jumped by 49 cents to $37.88.
