Moderate Drinking Raises Risk of Breast Cancer Returning

Women who survive breast cancer should take note that new research indicates that moderate alcohol consumption can increase risk of recurrence
Boston (DbTechNo) – Women who survive breast cancer should take note that new research indicates that moderate alcohol consumption can increase risk of recurrence.

Previous studies have linked moderate alcohol consumption to good heart health, but when it comes to breast cancer recurring, this new study finding is not good.

This study featured more than 1890 women, all of whom diagnosed with breast cancer between the years of 1997 and 2000.

The study found that those women who drank 3 to 4 alcoholic beverages per week were 34% more likely to be rediagnosed with breast cancer than were women who did not drink at all.

The study found that the more a woman drank the greater her risk of recurrent breast cancer became, subsequently the increased risk of death from the disease.

Breast cancer remains one of the most diagnosed forms of cancer in women, with more than 185000 cases diagnosed each year in America.
