Maine Pushing for Cancer Warnings on Cellphones
December 21, 2009

Boston (DbTechNo) - The state of Maine is considering adding a warning of cancer risk to all cellphones sold.
State Rep. Andrea Boland, introduced the idea, despite there being no solid evidence that proves the link between cellphones and cancer even exists.
Previous studies have been carried out in an attempt to determine if indeed there is a risk of developing cancer from talking on your mobile phone
Some studies claim that cancer risk does increase the more you talk away on your cell, but still others find no link of increased cancer risk in those who do chatter away a lot.
Cellphones do omit radiation when in use, thus it is not hard to jump to the conclusion that at least some of that radiation has to enter into the body when the phone is pressed up against the ear.
If Rep Boland has her way, all vendors of cellphones would have to include a warning label on the phone and on its package of increased risk of cancer.
“Science has shown increased risk of brain tumors from use of cell phones, as well as increased risk of eye cancer, salivary gland tumors, testicular cancer, non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and leukemia,” read a report by the Powerwatch and the EMR Policy Institute. “The public must be informed.”
