Rate of Obesity Leveling Off Across America
January 14, 2010

Boston (DbTechNo) - When it comes to the rate of obesity in America new figures indicate that over the last few years the percentage of fat people in the country has held steady.
Currently approximately 1 third of American adults are overweight, with many of them falling into the obese category.
Numbers from 2007 and 2008 reveal that the rate of obesity in the country is leveling off, a good sign for sure.
Numbers show that 34% of Americans are not just overweight, but obese, along with 17% of children living in the country.
When it comes to reducing the rate of obesity in the country, a healthy diet plus exercise is being touted as the way to go, yet millions of people ignore healthful advice, and continue to live sedintary lifestyles, costing the government millions of dollars annually in weight related medical bills.
“The obesity trend appears to be slowing down, but the prevalence remains high and continues to be a critical national health concern,” says Cynthia Ogden, an epidemiologist with the National Center for Health Statistics.
Being overweight or obese is very bad for one’s health and puts a person at extreme risk of serious medical problems ranging from diabetes to heart disease.
The report can be found in the Journal of the American Medical Association.

I have noticed in my lifetime more fat people. Not only fat but grossly fat. I had though that was because of the availability of food. I have refined though some over the years to include other causes such as advertisements and fast foods. When you can buy a burger and related accessories and you have over half of the calories for the whole day and this is not the only meal that the person eats. Other causes is the lack of physical work and tv and computer games. I can not know if there medical causes but I do believe that depression dose contribute. I also think that more physical work and walking would help more ways than one.
