Millions of Cancers Could be Prevented Through Better Lifestyle Choices
February 4, 2010

Boston (DbTechNo) - Up to 40% of all cancers could be prevented if people took the time to protect themselves from infection and changed their lifestyles.
This is quite the bold statement, but when the evidence is provided to back up the claim, it is hard not to believe it.
In many cases you do not have to be a scientist to figure out that certain forms of cancer are brought about directly by how people live their lives.
Take lung cancer for example. People smoke knowing the risk of cancer that they are putting themselves at, but yet they continue puffing away.
This is the finding of a group of experts known as the International Union Against Cancer (UICC) who insist that up to 4 million cancer cases each year could be averted.
“If there was an announcement that somebody had discovered a cure for 40 percent of the world’s cancers, there would quite justifiably be huge jubilation,”
UICC president David Hill told Reuters.
The group released a report in which they highlighted up to 9 different cancer causing infections that could be prevented through vaccinations.
“The fact is that we have, now, the knowledge to prevent 40 percent of cancers. The tragedy is, we’re not using it,” Hill added.
“Policymakers around the world have the opportunity and obligation to use these vaccines to save people’s lives and educate their communities toward lifestyle choices and control measures that reduce their risk of cancer,” said Cary Adams, UICC’s chief executive.
