FDA Issue Warning For Certain Asthma Drugs

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) are taking steps to reduce the use of certain types of asthma drugs due to serious health risks associated with them
Boston (DbTechNo) – The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) are taking steps to reduce the use of certain types of asthma drugs due to serious health risks associated with them.

The agency is urging doctors to stop prescribing drugs containing both long-acting beta agonists and inhaled corticosteroids which can lead to medical complications.

The drugs work by relaxing the muscles of the airway thus making it easier for an asthma patient to breath.

Millions of Americans take these drugs to control their asthma, and are unknowingly putting their health at considerable risk.

Some of the more popular drugs on the market to treat asthma include Serevent and Foradil, along with Advair and Symbicort.

These drugs are all administered through the use of inhalers and are only available via prescription.

The FDA state that if patients need to be taking these drugs, then they should do so for as short a time period as possible.
