Diet High In Added Sugar Raises Heart Disease Risk

People who eat a diet of processed foods with added sugar are putting themselves at an increased risk of developing heart disease.

Sugar has often been described as a poison for our bodies, and this study proves that people who eat it on a regular basis are not doing themselves any favors.

Sugar is added to a huge percentage of packaged foods and beverages that we buy, making it very hard to avoid unless one is very determined to do so.

For their study, researchers from Emory University analyzed nutritional data focusing on 6000 adults, dividing them up into groups depending on how much sugar they reported consuming.

The people who consumed the most sugar per day had the highest blood triglyceride levels, putting them at the greatest risk of developing heart disease.

The study can be found in the April 20 issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association.
