It is being reported that Baxter infusion pumps are being recalled by the FDA because the company has failed to address safety issues with them.
Infusion pumps are medical devices used to administer medicine and intravenous fluids to patients and are a vital component to various forms of medical treatment.
As many as 200,000 pumps maybe in use across the United States and the agency wants them all recalled and destroyed.
“This action is based on a long-standing failure to correct many serious problems with the pumps,” the FDA said in a statement.
Baxter will also have to refund customers or replace their pumps for now extra cost.
