The FDA have just granted approval to a new birth control pill manufactured by Bayer.
Natazia is the name of the new contraceptive pill which is already approved in Europe for preventing unwanted pregnancy.
The pill is made up of two hormones; estradiol valerate, an estrogen, and dienogest, a progestin.
According to Bayer, clinical trials of the drug show that it is safe for women and there are no extreme side effects associated with it.
“Nearly 12 million women in the United States and more than 100 million women worldwide currently use oral contraceptives,” said the FDA’s Dr. Scott Monroe.
“The approval of Natazia provides another option for women who choose to use an oral contraceptive as their method of contraception.”
