For once when it comes to anti-obesity campaigns the popular video game industry is not being blamed for the epidemic.
The American Heart Association will be teaming up with Nintendo to promote the WII console, as the method of gaming involves getting active, promoting movement and exercise.
With so many American children camping out in front of the television screen these days, it was only a matter of time before such an intriguing partnership was formed, and long overdue.
Personally I do not own a WII gaming system, but have wasted many hours playing WII Fit, and can tell you that if one wants a good workout, that is definitely an option.
Nintendo will donate more than 1.5 million dollars to the AHA initiative, and in return, the AHA will recognize the WII as a viable method of exercising.
AHA President Clyde Yancy says “We can keep beating the drum on traditional exercise and make small changes to the obesity epidemic, or we can try something that is really provocative and new.”
