Hospital Exposes Patients To HIV And Hepatitis

It is being reported that a Veterans Administration hospital located in Missouri may have exposed up to 1800 patients to the HIV and hepatitis virus.

Patients were sent out letters warning of the potential health risk they had been exposed too, upon receiving dental work at the VA Medical Center in St. Louis.

According to a statement, medical workers at the hospital may have cut corners when it came to cleaning medical equipment, thus putting the lives of the nearly 2000 patients at risk.

Medical instruments used to perform dental work were supposed to be sterilized via machine only, but reports indicate that they were hand washed instead.

“No veteran who has served and risked their life for this great nation should have to worry about their personal safety when receiving much needed health-care services from a Veterans Administration hospital,” said Rep. Russ Carnahan.

“I can only imagine the horror and anger our veterans must be feeling after receiving this letter,” he said. “They have every right to be angry.”
