According to the facts released by the White House office of drug control policy the use of prescription drugs to get high as jumped by 400 percent from 1998 to 2008, with all races and ethnic groups on the rise.

Gil Kerlikowske, director of the White House office of drug control policy says that prescription drug abuse is a huge problem in America and is the second leading form of illicit drug use in the country.

In many cases, people turn to prescription drugs to get high simply because they are easier to get than street drugs, and often come with a much cheaper price tag.

Opening one’s very own medicine cabinet can sometimes result in the finding of an array of prescription drugs that teens can use to get high, meaning that parents of children can actually be contributing to the situation without even realizing it.
