Lack Of Sleep Can Lead To Obese Children

A new study of young children has found that those who sleep less are at increased risk of obesity.

Sleep is a very important part of a child’s development as it is during this crucial time when the body recovers and grows.

The study focused on 1,930 children under the age of five, living in the United States.

Researchers compared the sleeping habits of the children with the associated rate of obesity to determine if the amount of sleep had any impact on the risk of weight issues.

On average the younger children slept 10 hours a night while the older children slept 9.5 hours.

After five years of follow up, those children who reported sleeping less were more likely to be obese than those children who slept more.

Lesson learned here is to make sure that your children get enough sleep to keep them thin.
