Carnie Wilson, one-third of the pop group Wilson Phillips and daughter of Beach Boy Brian Wilson, has had a second weight loss surgery. Wilson, who underwent gastric bypass 12 years ago in an effort to shed pounds off of her 5’3,” 300-lb body, had a lap band procedure in January, 2012.
After gaining two-thirds of her 150-pound weight loss back, she told fellow band members, sister Wendy Wilson and Chynna Phillips, daughter of Michelle Phillips and the late John Phillips that she would have the surgery a month before they went on tour to support their comeback album, “Dedicated.”
As part of TV Guide network’s reality series, “Wilson Phillips: Still Holding On,” Wilson said that the second surgery had nothing to do with vanity. She had a health scare when her doctor told her that she was a borderline diabetic.
She admitted that she could not do it alone and needed help. The bypass did not make her feel full after eating small amounts of food. She is hoping that the lap band is her answer.
