Microsoft Names Former Disney, GM Exec As CIO

Microsoft made the announcement on Thursday that they have hired Tony Scott, the former GM and Disney executive, as chief information officer.to lead their inetrnal IT systemsBoston (dbTechno) - Microsoft made the announcement on Thursday that they have hired Tony Scott, the former GM and Disney executive, as chief information officer.to lead their inetrnal IT systems.

Tony Scott will fill a position at Microsoft that has been open since November. Microsoft had the position open after they fired their previous CIO Stuart Scott for violating company policies.

Tony Scott will report to Chief Operating Officer Kevin Turner.

Turner stated that Scott will be responsilble for making the most out of Microsoft’s IT investments. He will also be responsible for giving feedback to Microsoft product groups and sharing ideas with the other IT executivs.

At Walt Disney, Scott led a major IT infrastructure upgrade. He was also the chief technology officer at General Motors.
