New York (dbTechno) - Sony is planning to begin to buy LCD TV panels from their biggest rival, Sharp. The reports are stating that they are going to buy the LCD TV panels from Sharp to meet with consumer demand, and will begin the new venture in April.
Sony is currently in the middle of joint-venture with Samsung.
Under the agreement, they have been working with Samsung for their LCD TV panels, but this is changing.
Sony is trying vigorously to keep up with consumer demands of LCD TVs, and in order to do this, they need more LCD TV panels, enter Sharp.
Sharp is working on the largest LCD panel factory in the world and will boost their LCD output capacity by 50% in the next 12 months.
This is exactly what Sony needs in order to meet the demand of LCD TVs. Sony hopes that by buying the LCD TV panels from Sharp, they will be able to meet that demand.
