October 30, 2008
Washington (dbTechno) - TiVo and Netflix have joined together to allow for TiVo users to be able to stream Netflix movies on-demand straight to their TiVo DVR.
The new service is going to allow for those with TiVo and a Netflix subscription to be able to stream movies directly to their DVR device.
The two companies have already kicked off a limited beta test to allow TiVo users to stream content.
The content includes over 12,000 movies and TV shows overall that are part of the Netflix library.
All of this comes through the highly-touted Netflix “Instant Watching” service, which allows users to stream content.
By early December, TiVo and Netflix have made it clear they want all TiVo users to have the capability.
This will not only help TiVo, but it will also help Netflix overall as it will likely up subscriptioins for both companies.
The new service will onlyw ork with TiVo high-definition DVRs, and will be free of charge to those who have both Netflix and TiVo.
