October 4, 2007
Boston (dbTechno) - Google has added a brand new player to its Google Apps roster as they have revealed that Google Apps Premier Addition is implementing storage and compliance services as well as security from Postini for business e-mail.
Postini is an e-mail service provider which provides e-mail storage for 35,000 business customers as well as 10 million users around the world.
Google purchased Postini back on July 19th stating that “With Postini, we saw the potential to deliver a more complete hosted solution for businesses of all sized,” according to vice president and GM of Google Enterprise Dave Girouard.
This is the latest in a series of moves Google has made to try and break more into the corporate world which is currently dominated by thikes of Lotus Notes and Microsoft Exchange.
The Google Apps suite of software is growing though with Docs, Calendar, GTalk, GMail, as well as the addition now of Postini and Google Apps Premier Edition all for business use.
Google has stated though that they are not done as they stated that “We want our valued resellers to know that we will continue to honor our existing agreements with you and respect your existing customer relationships. We want to encourage you to continue selling Postini solutions per our existing agreements. In addition, we plan to open the door for you to offer new Google products to your customers and prospects.”
Jo Vaccone, president of a large Postini reseller Excel Micro stated that it is “exciting for us that we can sell Postini with these Google services.”
