Yahoo Rejects $44.6 Billion Bid From Microsoft
February 11, 2008
Hollywood (dbTechno) - Yahoo has formerly rejected the $44.6 billion takeover bid from Microsoft. Yahoo Inc. formerly rejected the bid on Monday stating that the big was too low.
The likely scenario from this point forward is for Microsoft to sweeten the deal a bit more for Yahoo and raise their bid.
Microsoft gave their first big at $44.6 billion, which came out to $31 per share. Reports from analysts state that to get the deal done, Microsoft may have to go as high as $35 or $40 per share to clinch the deal.
Chief Executive of Yahoo, Jerry Yang, stated on Monday in an e-mail to all Yahoo employees, “The proposal is not in the best interests of Yahoo! and our stockholders. We believe Microsoft’s proposal substantially undervalues Yahoo!”
Yahoo cited that Microsoft did not properly value the global brand itself.
Microsoft has to decide whether to raise their offer or seek another option.
Reports suggest that Microsoft will raise their big quite a bit.
