Apple Launches Safari 3.1 Browser, Touts Speed Increase

Apple launched a brand new version of its Safari web browser for Mac and Windows on Tuesday, Safari 3.1.Boston (dbTechno) - Apple launched a brand new version of its Safari web browser for Mac and Windows on Tuesday, Safari 3.1.

There are many new features which have been revealed as included in Safari 3.1.

Apple has stated that Safari 3.1 is much faster than anything Microsoft has to offer.

They stated that it loads web pages 1.9 times faster than Internet Explorer 7, and 1.7 times faster than Firefox 2.

It is also stated to load JavaScript faster than any other browser out there as well.

“Safari 3.1 for Mac and Windows is blazingly fast, easy to use and features an elegant user interface,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing. “And best of all, Safari supports the latest audio, video and animation standards for an industry-leading Web 2.0 experience.”

Some of the bigger features include tools which web developers will be able to use. This includes support for CSS Animations, CSS Web Fonts, as well as new video and audio tags in HTML 5.
