Microsoft and Facebook Wok Together To Expand
March 26, 2008
Boston (dbTechno) - Microsoft has signed a deal with many different social networking sites, the biggest being Facebook, to help the sites expand. The deal will allow the social networking sites to use the Windows Live Messenger APIs to add contacts from Windows Live Messenger.
Microsoft has decided to open up and share their APIs with five social networking sites in total. Microsoft’s newest Web site InviteToMessenger.net is a brand new site Microsoft has put together to aid in this.
All users have to do is login with their Windows Live user names and then choose which social networking site they belong to. From here they can add which friends they want from their instant messaging contacts over to the social network.
Facebook, LinkedIn, Bebo, Hi5, and Tagged are the social networking sites taking part in the contact-sharing.
This comes just after Yahoo and MySpace both joined Google’s open platform, OpenSocial.
