April 13, 2008
Washington (dbTechno) - According to reports. the staff of the talk show “Dr. Phil” bailed out one of the girls in jail for beating 16-year old Victoria Lindsay with the intent to put the video up on YouTube. The TV talk show starring Dr. Phil McGraw was apparently helping out the girl with the intent to have her as a guest on the show.
The bails of the girls were set fairly high as they were charged as adults. 17-year old Mercades Nichols, 17-year old Britney Mayes, and 17-year old Brittini Hardcastle are all being charged with felonious battery, as well as kidnapping and false imprisonment.
16-year old Cara Murphy, 15-year old Kayla Hassell, 14-year old April Cooper, 17-year old Zachary Ashley, and 18-year old Stephen Schumaker face charges of felonious battery as well as false imprisonment.
A spokeswoman for the “Dr. Phil” show has confirmed that staff members of the show have bailed out Mercades Nichols.
She was bailed out on Friday night by a representative of the show according to a report by MyFOXTampaBay.com.
The bail exceeded $30,000.
The spokeswoman for the “Dr Phil” show stated that staff members broke the rules and went too far in this case to get Mercades Nichols out of jail. It has been admitted though that in the past the staff of the show has gone out of their way to help those who would end up being future guests on the show.
According to a statement from show spokeswoman Terri Corigliano “These staff members have been spoken to and our policies reiterated. In addition, we have decided not to go forward with the story as our guidelines have been compromised.”
As of late Saturday night, only two out of the eight teens charged were still in jail.
