HBO Shifts Pricing Of TV Shows On Apple iTunes Store
May 14, 2008
Washington (dbTechno) - It was confirmed on Tuesday that Apple has signed a deal with Time Warner’s HBO to bring their TV shows to the iTunes store. The biggest change here though is that HBO will be changing the prices of episodes on iTunes, not following the standard price of other shows.
HBO will be bringing hit shows such as The Sopranos, Sex and the City, The Wire, and many others to the iTunes store, but they may be a bit more expensive.
Reports state that HBO programming has already begun to appear on iTunes with shows costing either $1.99 or $2.99 per episode.
This makes HBO the only channel allowed to charge more than the standard $1.99 price tag per episode.
This could signal a major shift in the way TV shows are priced on the iTunes service, as more networks may want to go for the higher price point which HBO is now allowed to go up to.
