Study Shows Comcast, Cox Interfered With Internet Traffic
May 16, 2008
Boston (dbTechno) - A new study has found that Comcast, as well as Cox Communications, both attempted to interfere with, and in some cases block file-sharing over the Internet by subscribers.
The study stated that it found conclusive signs of these companies purposely blocking users from an open experience to use P2P networks over the Internet.
The study was conducted with 788 Comcast subscribers, and found that 62% had their Internet connections interfered with, or blocked out.
Cox was not as bad, but still had 54% of subscribers’ connections being interfered with.
The study was carried out at the Max Planck Institute for Software Systems in Germany.
Comcast has been under a lot of scrutiny as a federal investigation looks into the company and “Net Neutrality” laws. This appears to be the first conclusive evidence that Comcast, as well as Cox, block users from getting the most out of their subscription, which they pay for.
