Mozilla Firefox 3 Makes It Into Guinness World Record Book
July 3, 2008
Washington (dbTechno) - It is a day to celebrate for the open-source company Mozilla, as they have confirmed that their open-source browser, Firefox 3, has managed to make it into the Guinness World Record book for the most downloads in a single day.
During the first 24-hours of its release, the Firefox 3 open-source browser was downloaded 8,002,530 times.
This all came during what Mozilla called Download Day, as they tried to gather up as much community support as possible to beat the record.
On the day, they had people pledge to download the software, and also held a Download Day event, the Camp Firefox BBQ at their offices in California.
Mozilla VP of Marketing, Pul Kim, stated that it was all due to the fans and their hard work.
