Microsoft made the announcement on Monday, weeks before Yahoo is set to have their annual meeting on August 1 to vote on whether or not they want to keep the current leadership at Yahoo.

The shareholders have the ability on August 1st to vote whether they want to keep the board, or to choose an alternate board beinig proposed by investor Carl Icahn.

Microsoft wants to get a deal done with Yahoo to merge and create a unified company to go up against the search engine giant Google.

Back in May, MIcrosoft walked away from negotiations, and will only come back to the table if a new board of directors is in place.
