AT&T Brings Free Wi-Fi To iPhone Users, Then Takes It Back
July 18, 2008
Boston (dbTechno) - AT&T posted on its site Friday that they would begin offering free Wi-Fi to its iPhone customers. Shortly after though, they took it back stating that the post was a mistake.
So as of Friday afternoon, the AT&T site announcing the free Wi-Fi was removed once again.
This is the second time this has happened, as AT&T told iPhone customers back in April that they would be bringing free Wi-Fi access, but never followed through.
The page read before it was removed, “we are proud to offer iPhone customers free access to the nation’s largest Wi-Fi hotspot network with more than 17,000 hotspots, including Starbucks.”
An AT&T spokesperson later told Ars Technica that the page was an error, and that AT&T was not ready to roll out free Wi-Fi for iPhone users.
