Cable Operators Unite To Help Rid Internet Of Child Porn
July 18, 2008
Washington (dbTechno) - Cable operators have come together to try and keep online child pornography off of computers, making the Internet and safer and cleaner place for all users.
These cable operators make up the Internet service of 87% of residents in the U.S.
The National Cable and Telecommunications Association has stated that the majority of cable companies already give free filtering software.
This is a step way beyond that though, as any company that they find hosting the content, will be immediately shut down.
They will be working with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children to clean up the Internet.
The idea is that by doing this, they will be able to stop predators from storing and sharing explicit images over the Internet. The program will begin within 30 days.
