Delta Plans To Offer Wi-Fi Internet Access On Domestic Flights
August 5, 2008
Boston (dbTechno) - Delta Air Lines made the announcement Tuesday that they will soon be providing Wi-Fi Internet access for their domestic flights.
Major airlines are beginning to lay down plans to offer Wi-Fi access to passengers during flights, and they are being led by Delta.
Delta has reached an agreement with the company Aircell, to allow Internet access for laptops, smartphones, PDAs, etc.
By the end of next summer, Delta has stated that they plan to have all 330 of their planes Wi-Fi enabled.
Wi-Fi will be available to both first-class, as well as economy seat passengers for $9.95 for three-hours or less.
Any flight that is longer than three-hours will carry a $12.95 fee for Wi-FI access.
The Wi-Fi will run off of the Aircell Gogo portal, which passengers will be able to use once the flight reaches 10,000 feet, and the pilot gives approval for electronic devices.
