September 3, 2008
Washington (dbTechno) - The co-founder of iRobot, Rodney Brooks, has announced that he will be leaving his job at the company to start up a new robotics company. He was the chief technology officer at iRobot.
The former CTO of iRobot already has big plans for his new robotics company, Heartland Robotics.
The company is based in Cambridge, Mass and will be focusing on industrial worker robots.
Rodney Brooks released a statement on his Web site, saying “I want to effect a powerful evolution in the world’s labor markets, and my current focus is to develop low-cost robots that will empower American workers.”
The new company from Brooks is not going to compete with iRobot in any manner.
The company is going to look for a replacement for Brooks starting in 2009.
He will remain on the company’s board of directors.
