Study Shows Social Networks More Popular Than Porn
September 17, 2008
Boston (dbTechno) - According to a new study, social networks are now more popular than porn online.
The study was conducted by Bill Trancer, author and general manager of global research at Hitwise.
He has put out a new book known as “Click: What Millions of People are Doing Online and Why It Matters.”
The idea behind the book is to look into what Internet users actually search for in the U.S.
It takes a peek at trends of 10 million users in total, to get an idea as to what is popular and what is not.
The most startling discovery is that the hottest thing to search for on the Internet now is social networking sites, as they have surpassed that old dirty habit of searching for other risque material online.
Overall, searches for porn fell 10% from just a decade ago, as social networks are now more popular than anything else.
