YouTube Symphony Orchestra, A Chance To Play Carnegie Hall
December 3, 2008
Washington (dbTechno) - YouTube has announced the YouTube Symphony Orchestra, an online music competition of sorts that will culminate with musicians performing live at Carnegie Hall in April 2009.
The idea behind this is to try to bring together international musicians from around the world.
The YouTube Symphony Orchestra is a project that is being headed up by YouTube, along with the London Symphony Orchestra.
Users will download sheet music, and will perform The Internet Symphony, which was written by Tan Dun specifically for this purpose.
They will upload a video of themselves playing the pice with an instrument of their choice.
The submissions are then going to be taken and compiled. The best will be chosen and will be combined for a video on YouTube of them performing the piece.
A second audition is going to be held to allow musicians to show off their talent in any way they can.
They will then get the chance to perform live at Carnegie Hall in April 2009, not bad at all.
