Should Breastfeeding Pictures Be Allowed On Facebook?

Facebook has been banning breastfeeding images from being shown on its social-networking site.

The site claims that these are images which contain obscene content due to the fact that they show the areola, which is the dark area around the nipple.

Facebook is not getting away with this very easily though as there have been many protests against this move by Facebook.

The Mothers International Lactation Campaign event took place a few days ago to kick off a virtual protest against this move by Facebook, which mothers are calling discriminatory.

So now we want to throw the question out to our dbTechno.com readers.

Are images of mothers breastfeeding obscene or not?  Sound off and give us your thoughts!

I personally have nothing against breastfeeding,a baby has to eat, but why do women want to make it such a public spectiale? I don’t understand having your breast out exposed to the world, I know I don’t particularly want to see my friends breasts all over facebook, feeding or otherwise. I thinkit should be a private thing. Take the pics and keep them in an album, or put them on a blog if you really want to share them, facebook is not an appropriate forum for those pictures.

Why would anyone want to post breast feeding pictures? It is as if they are proud of this as it is supposed to be some kind of accomplishment. Breast feeding has been going on for as long as Humans (and other mamals have existed) it is no more an accomplishment to be proud of as any other body function is.

Breast feeding is a natural and beautiful experience. What could possibly be the matter with that? Tsk. Tsk. Facebook.

I nursed 3 babies. I struggled with all them, too. Though I engaged lactation consultants with all 3, I would have liked to have an online support resource. Sites like FB and YouTube can be very helpful. If people think that seeing the human body nourishing its young is obscene, they need to get a life. Give me a break.
