(Update) Windows 7 Beta Download Limit Lifted, Get It Yet?
January 13, 2009
Washington (dbTechno) - Microsoft has officially lifted the limit on Windows 7 Beta downloads, allowing everyone to get in on the fun.
Microsoft released the Windows 7 Beta last Friday and was originally only going to allow the first 2.5 million people to download it.
Once that limit was reached, the downloads were supposed to stop, or so we thought.
This is no longer the case though as Microsoft Windows communications manager Brandon LeBlanc wrote in the Microsoft Windows blog over the weekend that, “Due to an enormous surge in demand, the download experience was not ideal so we listened and took the necessary steps to ensure a good experience.”
He went on to state “We have clearly heard that many of you want to check out the Windows 7 Beta and, as a result, we have decided to remove the initial 2.5 million limit on the public beta for the next two weeks.”
So until January 24, 2009, there will be no limit on the number of people who can get the Windows 7 Beta.
This begs the question, how many of you have already downloaded and tried out the beta?
We have tested it here and have had a great deal of success so far, but we want to hear your stories.
Let us know how it is going, and if you think it is a good successor to Windows Vista!
