What Changes Has Amazon Made To The Kindle 2?

Boston (dbTechno) - Amazon are making a number of key changes to enhance their Kindle 2 reader user experience.

The main change they are implicating deals with the text to speech read aloud option that many users do not really approve of.

The move is also to comply with many authors of books available for download who are crying foul because of the speech option apparently putting a dent in their royalty payments.

The controversy was first brought to light this past week, in a New York Times piece featuring the President of the Authors Guild, Roy Blount.

The company is planning on allowing users of the Kindle 2 to have the option of disabling the option, which takes written text and converts it into actual human speech.

“Kindle 2’s experimental text-to-speech feature is legal: no copy is made, no derivative work is created, and no performance is being given,” said a statement released by Amazon.

The Kindle 2, is the upgraded version of Amazon’s original Kindle reader and began shipping this past week.
