Study Shows Most Twitter Users Quit After First Month

April 30, 2009

According to a new study, the majority of Twitter users quit using the service after a month..................Washington (dbTechno) - According to a new study, the majority of Twitter users quit using the service after a month.

The study was carried out by the research firm Nielsen Online, and focused in on the social-networking site Twitter.

What they found was that 60% of the Twitter users quit after just a month on the site.

This means that the social-networking site has a very poor retention rate in regards to keeping users coming back.

Nielsen Online does a great deal of work in measuring levels of Internet traffic, and has stated that these numbers have been constant for a full year.

The only positive through all of this is that Twitter keeps growing, with roughly 14 million new users in March alone.

Nielsen Online compared the retention rate of Twitter to MySpace and Facebook, which are at around 70%.

I won’t lie i’ve never even heard of twitter but if people are quitting within a month that just makes it a failed site. This sounds is just a knock off Myspace. you cant redo what was already done right……. Durrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
