Boston (dbTechno) - Steve Jobs addressed quite a few things during his big keynote address at Macworld yesterday, including an update to Apple TV, the iPhone, as well as the iPod Touch.
Steve Jobs talked about the iPhone in great detail, especially its success. He stated that the iPhone has been on sale for 200 days now and has already solid 4 million units, giving Apple 19.5% of the smartphone market.
He stated that the software developers kit will hit in February to allow everyone to make apps for the iPhone. He also stated that new applications will hit the device soon including maps with your location, customization of the home screen, as well as the ability to chat via SMS with more than one person at a time.
He also stated that these new apps will be sent out via free updates. Google is also updating their apps for the iPhone.
Steve Jobs also talked a lot about the iPod Touch, and new features it was getting. He stated that the iPod Touch would be getting a $20 add-on application package which will consist of Stocks, Notes, Weather, Mail, as well as Maps.
Jobs also revealed the revamping of Apple TV, stating that it is being completely re-done and will launch immediately to allow consumers the ability to rent movies in DVD quality or in full HD without a computer. It is a stand-alone device that will allow you to get podcasts, photos, and more.
Apple TV will be a free software update, with the price point dropping from $299 to $229 for new buyers.
