DVD Jon’s DoubleTwist Kills DRM, Allows iTunes Copying
February 19, 2008
Boston (dbTechno) - DVD Jon has launched a new product from his company DoubleTwist Ventures. The product is called DoubleTwist, and it is essentially a DRM killer as it allows users to take any type of music, photo, or video file, and use it on any device or social network, taking all control away from the likes of Apple and iTunes.
This is the same man who cracked the DVD code as well as the FairPlay DRM from Apple.
The founder of DoubleTwist, CEO Monique Farantzos, stated that the belief of the company is that media files, whether it be music, photos, or videos, should be like e-mail.
She stated that these files shoudl be able to be opened no matter what device they are on, what service, etc.
DVD Jon, of Jon Lech Johansen, has worked with a team to create DoubleTwist.
The program allows you to share videos, music, and photos from iTunes or any other program, on any device or social network, including Facebook.
DVD Jon stated that this opportunity allowed him to reach a wider audience. “The goal is to make something your parents can use.”
It is clear though that the o ther goal is to completely free people from the restrictions placed on media files by Apple iTunes, as well as other programs out there.
