Japan Launches Safety Investigation of Apple iPod
March 12, 2008
Tokyo (dbTechno) - Japan has launched a safety investigation of Apple’s iPod line. This comes after the popular iPod nano media players shot out sparks while being recharged in Japan just a few months ago.
Back in January, while an iPod nano was being recharged, sparks flew out of it. There was no one hurt in the incident, and Apple has already stated they are looking into what caused the sparks to fly out.
They will also be comparing the incident to other similar events which have been noted.
The iPod nano is very popular in Japan, with Apple selling 420,000 units a year there.
The sparks incident in question took place on January 8 in Kanagawa near Tokyo.
Apple officials have yet to comment, but the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry in Japan has already launched a full investigation.
